Surabaya (8/3) – With the theme "It Starts With Us", PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS), which is a subsidiary of Pelindo Terminal Container Subholding (SPTP), held an International Women's Day commemoration with a talk show presenting Dra. Astrid Regina Sapii Wiratna, S. Psi (Psychologist), Yuliati Umrah (Director of ALIT) and Jani Purnawanty Jasfin, S.H, S.S. LL.M (Lecturer at the Faculty of Law, Airlangga University, Surabaya, Child & Women Protection activist).

Dressed in a pink, purple, red dress code, which symbolizes strength, justice and dignity, 150 women who grew up and made careers in the maritime world attended from various institutions and institutions: Kartini TPS, Mutiara Pelindo which is a community of Pelindo female employees, Pelindo Employee Wives Association (PIPP), female employees from the Pelindo Group, TPS Service Users and TPS Customers Association, crowded the Jawa Room, TPS Administration Building.

In line with the theme of IWD 2023, namely Embrace Equity, this talk show discusses self-understanding, self-esteem, efforts that can be made to encourage an environment where women live, grow and work, to understand each other's condition, provide support needed to be the best version of each. All with the aim of preserving a conducive and safe environment for women, especially in the maritime world, where the number of female workers is still far below the number of male workers.

In his remarks, Wahyu Widodo as the Main Director said that education for women is education for a nation. On the same occasion, Wahyu Widodo also said that career and work opportunities for women workers, both at TPS, at the Pelindo Sub Holding Container Terminal and at the Pelindo Group, are the same as opportunities for male workers. Furthermore, Wahyu also said that TPS, SPTP and the Pelindo Group already had a Code of Ethics, as one of the TPS Familia and Pelindo Group's code of conduct.

In carrying out the duties and responsibilities at TPS, we have owned and implemented a Code of Ethic, which regulates ethics in managing the company, submitting complaints regarding alleged violations of ethics including harassment, to the reporting channel. On an ongoing basis, it is necessary to socialize these good guidelines and measure the effectiveness of their implementation. said Wahyu Widodo.

Astrid, who is also the Founder of Dear Astrid, said that by nature, women have been trained to become individuals who are resilient, tough and able to get up even when they are down, so women must be sure that whatever challenges they face, they will be able to overcome them.

Yuliati Umrah as a female activist warned about the dangers of being permissive towards behaviors that have the potential to lead to harassment so caring for each other by reminding them to improve is a very important action. Meanwhile Jany Purnawanty Jasfin conveyed the importance for all parties, including women, to know the legal basis for a matter, because it will provide guidance in taking action, including actions that make them uncomfortable, intimidating, even those that fall into the harassment category.

“The program is different, exciting, very inspiring! I really enjoy it, it makes me more sure how to behave as a woman, ”said Evi Rosada, one of the representatives from TPS customers who attended the event.

The participants were very enthusiastic about participating in the series of events, they shared their experiences with each other, apart from that there was also live music entertainment, fun games and interesting door prizes.

It is hoped that through this activity it can educate women to care more about themselves, love themselves more, increase mutual support among women, so as to create a safer and more comfortable environment.
